During this very structured program, we will serve 15 boys at a time, with each boy staying with us for 60 days (maximum 90 days).

Each boy will receive intensive, customized treatment, including individual, group and family therapy, educational tutoring, recreational opportunities and aftercare placement.. For one year following discharge, our program staff will continue to follow-up with each young client and his family. Although the youth will temporarily live away from home, the family has a very active role in treatment.

How do I refer someone this program?

If you are a community provider or court system working with a youth who is experiencing health, emotional/behavioral, family, developmental and/or social dysfunction as a result of alcohol or other drug use, you may take these steps:

  1. Refer the adolescent to a BSAS-approved outpatient adolescent services provider for a full substance abuse assessment using the GAIN tool (Global Appraisal of Individual Needs). The Mass. Substance Abuse Information and Education Helpline (800-327-5050) can list approved outpatient adolescent programs.
  2. If the outpatient assessment determines a need for residential treatment, the complete assessment is faxed to the Department of Public Health (DPH) Central Intake Coordinator. The Coordinator may refer the youth to ours or to another youth-residential program.

Note: There are four youth-residential programs in the State, including two girls’ homes in Lawrence and Worcester, and another boys’ home in Springfield.
